General Questions

How do I report a broken brick on a walkway or steps?
Place a work order, and we will address it either in-house or with a contractor.

How do I report a dead animal near the lake/street?
Call extension 8600 and we will notify the Landscape Services to retrieve and dispose of the animal properly.

How do I report an air conditioning or heat concern?
This can be reported by submitting a work order online.

How do I report insects in my room?
A licensed and full-service pest control company provides university pest control services.
Bats should be reported to the Campus Police at (804) 289-8715.
Suspicion of bed bugs should be reported to a member of the Office of Residence Life and Housing.
All other pest control requests should be communicated to University Facilities at (804) 289-8600.

How do I submit a request to move furniture?
Submit an online request through Support Services.

When is the a/c and heat switched over in the Residence Halls?
A/C and heat are switched over when the trend of outside temperatures is consistent with the season they are normally associated with. The exact date is weather-dependent, but typically, this takes place by mid-April and mid-October.

Who do I contact if I’m locked out?
If you are a student, please get in touch with your RA or the Office for Residence Life. (Campus Police after hours).
If a staff or faculty member, please call 804-289-8600 and ask for a Locksmith. We will send one to your location to assist you.

Who do I contact if the washer/dryer is not working?
Report a washer and dryer not working by calling the 800# provided in all residential laundry rooms or send a work request to onecard@richmond.edu.
Work Requests

What is considered a work order request?
Maintenance includes projects or tasks necessary to ensure a building and its systems remain in safe and functional operating condition. Maintenance does not include beautification updates or building modifications to address changes in space. Maintenance requests may be submitted by any employee and should be submitted as soon as the issue is identified.

The submittal password is spiders for everyone.

Can I check on the status of my work request?
Yes, log in to School Dude to check the status of your pending requests.

What notifications will I receive and what do they mean?
- Work Request Received: a work order is automatically created. (Work orders are assigned Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
- Work in Progress: Work has been assigned to a member of our team and will be scheduled based on urgency.
- Forwarded: Our team has completed the work and forwarded the work order to their supervisor for review. (If you receive this notification and feel the work is unsatisfactory, please call 289-8600.)
- Complete: The supervisor has reviewed the information turned in by our team. (Note: This may take several days after the actual work has been completed.)
- Closed: All paperwork has been submitted, and the work order is closed.

What is the expected response time for a work request?
We strive to respond within three to five business days for routine requests. For any emergency needs, please call us at 804-289-8600.
Projects Requests

What is considered a project?
Projects include any modification or addition to existing campus buildings, including new furniture or fixed equipment. A project can also be a study, a budget, or anything that will require or can benefit from design or construction.
